The Explorer is an in-flight magazine created for Antarctica21 guests during their two-hour private flight between Punta Arenas, Chile, and King George Island, Antarctica. Each edition features stories from the Antarctica21 team and its travelers, offering readers a deeper connection to the journey ahead. The magazine is now offered to all Antarctica21 travelers on board their boutique small ship during their expedition cruise in Antarctica.
As Marketing Manager at Antarctica21, I led the project annually, overseeing everything from editorial concept and writing to creative direction for the cover. First published in 2023, the magazine has grown to a print run of 4,000 copies per year across its first three editions.

I chose illustration for the cover, bringing a singular editorial look to The Explorer magazine. The elements and composition of the illustration are inspired by real moments captured in by Antarctica21's photographers during past expeditions in Antarctica. For each edition, I draft directions and collect references.

For the third edition of the magazine, we chose to feature the spirit of boutique exploration in Antarctica: small-scale, immersive and intimate. We also included Ocean Nova (ship on the left) as farewell, 2025-26 was its last season of operation with Antarctica21.
